Prancing Princesses

There was once a time when I wanted to be a concert pianist, the kind that everyone oohs and awes when people hear them. I loved this dream! However, it is true that dreams don't always match your abilities or circumstances and mine did not parallel my dreams. I am very grateful for the ability to play. Since my daughters could sit up, they've always moved to the music I play on the piano. Although, they don't seem all that interested in it themselves, they certainly love to have their old mum play for them while they dance. Around four years old, I remember sitting down one day, inspired, I started plunking out a song. It reminded me of two little princesses prancing and dancing around, having fun, and finally throwing themselves onto the floor out of pure laughter and exhaustion. This is my first composition that I am proud of and want to share it with you. It's for my little princesses (although one would strongly disagree that she is in fact a tomb boy)...The Prancing Princesses, by Michelle A.

added: My composition couldn't be recorded direct from my piano (I'm not that tech savy yet) it was composed, and from my memory imputed note by note into a program called Magiscore and then published as a digital piano Midi file. It's a digital recording of my composition - does that make sense? But it is as I would play it! PS try clicking the play button twice if it doesn't work!

I have no idea how to add the link to my post, please click the sidebar.

Michelle it is beautiful! And so technical! I can imagine you as a concert pianist now...playing those crisp and difficult runs that the people pay to see and hear. Well done.

but your playing it to watch your girls prance makes your composition even more satisfying. What a gift for them.

OMG I'm so impressed. It's beautiful...I felt like getting up and dancing myself!

I envy people who play the piano. I keep telling myself that a person is never too old to learn...so maybe someday!

WOW I have left this playing all day and when I walk by my computer I'm cheered up! My computer is right by my piano and I imagine that someday someone will play it like that! Thanks!

Also, good luck with that Diet Coke thing (she said as she sipped the last of her can). Ok, I am not a good example.

Wow, that was amazing, what a cool thing for you to do for the girls.

The picture of you three is darling. I was surprised to see your little tomboy in a pink ballet ensemble.

That really does put dancing in your head. What a fun peice of music to listen too, and such a treasure for your girls. You should make a tape or CD of it and put it with their childhood treasures so you always have it for them.

You really have an amazing talent for composition!

Enchanting, so enchanting. As I listened it was so inspiring to hear. I had a great desire to run in grab my flute to play.

I was wonderng when you are going to California? I have something to put in the mail for you. I wasn't sure if I should mail it now, or closer to when you return back home. :) How is the migraine? I hope better. :)

Michelle, that's amaaaaaaazing! It's just brilliant, I love it! You're so clever. I mean, the composition is clever for a start - but then to recompose it digitally. Wow!

I must let Erin hear this in the morning. She'll be prancing about all over the place in her ballet shoes!

Oh, I also meant to add these links. Have you seen the film 'Belly of an Architect'? It's one of my favourite films, not least because the music (by Wim Mertens) is just lovely.

Can you play like this? I would love to be able to twiddle about on a keyboard like this!

This version is a bit longer:

I wanted to twirl and dance, but my kids were giving me strange looks so I opted to not! love the picture... now you just need the song and the dancing girls on a vid! :)
TO add links to your post you go to the page copy the address and then in the edit post area there is a button that looks like a world with goggles, click that and paste your address {make sure you do not have 2 https}

Got up and had to hear you song again. Now I know why it I love it so much. It reminds of music that should be played in a Jane Austen movie. I say this with the highest of esteem for it.
