SPT: Twirling for order!

Twirling and Whirling!

I have been twirling around our "clean" home all day thankful that I am no longer "organizing". I have a couple of closets and a small laundry room (insert jaws music) that need to be put in order - but the majority of my once unorganized messy house is finally in ship/shape condition.

My main organization issue as of late surrounded two areas of my home: the place where I get ready, and the girl's room. We have only one bathroom with electricity in it and one bathroom with a shower. My getting ready was with a mirror I had placed over the dresser above, my top drawer held all my make-up and irons. This sounds perfect - however, it was always, always a giant mess that never got put away. To solve the problem, I removed the mirror and and all contents of my getting ready drawer into a three drawer tupperware set that sits inside my closet. My hair dryer and irons are conveniently placed in a basket on beside the dresser so I can use the mirror on the closet door to get ready. I feel a lot more inclined to put away my mess now, with all our pretty things sitting on the dresser. It has worked like a charm!

My second issue and my biggest was the girl's two rooms. I had two giant perfect cute white sleigh beds in one room. Problem: It took up all the space, so I had to spread their room into two to house their toys and their dresser. The space allotted for the girl's clothes was awful - too small, especially for two growing girls.

Thankfully, Ikea came to the rescue! We are planning on selling the girl's beds (a hard moment for me) and we purchased this bunk bed set, two pink dressers, and a toy and bin storage area. They take turns week to week between the top and bottom bunk and I can't say how happy I am about their storage! Everything fits into one room - yeah!

The best thing about this whole experience is the peace it has given me. There is no clutter, no mess, and it's easy to put things away every night - nothing gets left on the floor. I love that there is order and the girls love their new room! This was an eggtra-special thing for me and my take on this weeks great SPT challenge!

What do you think?
Do you have bunk beds?
Ever had to redo a room because of space?

Ahh, I LOVE clean and organization. I just wish I could get more of it done right now. It is hard with Ryan around. I am so sad you have to sell those beds. I wish I lived closer so that I could buy them!

I hope you are all feeling better and over the sickies!

Yes Yes and Yes! I have three girls in one room so I know about making the most of space. It looks great! I took down the girls bunk beds about a year ago. I twas greeat for space and they liked them. One of the bed is taller so I put a pull out bed under it and my twinns like it better so they can talk and see each other at night I think. I have to put C.C. to bed before the other two girls or they have a party.

What cute rooms they have. AS I have gotten older I have appreciated order so much more.

Oh yes, we did the bunk bed thing in both the girls' and the boys' room. No other way to squeeze them in!

When you stop twirling, give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for all of your hard work. I know it must feel wonderful to have things put in their place and to have made the space to store things in the first place!

That IS extra special!! (You've inspired me to get busy.)

Oh my, space is my major problem too. I have bunk beds in my girls room and I still feel like I have no where to store all their stuff.

I am debating bunk beds or a queen bed, I just can't decide. Is that Bunk bed from ikea sturdy?

I thought the girls had their own rooms? I thought I remembered that from a long time ago when I was just starting to get to know you, but I might be, and likely am, wrong. Their shared room looks great though. Good job on the organization.

Carter and Maxwell will have bunk-beds. We have three children and three children's rooms, so for now we are in good shape, but we do eventually want to have more, so Maxwell and Carter are going to share. Carter sleeps in the bottom now, and we just don't have the top half set up. Then when the time comes, Carter will get the top and Max will get the bottom. My grand plan.

Carolee - When we moved from Cali to here, we ordered one of those big dumpster that they deliver and haul away when you're done. We filled it! Than when we arrived and I was unpacking, I just put everything away in the closets and drawers and walls. But realized that our house was too small, so I started placing bins throughout the house and just throwing things in them that didn't fit, too small, etcc. I ended up giving away I think it was 25 bags. My last phase is to re check everything - I've already collected another 3 bags. We weren't slobs, although it sounds like it - we just didn't have enough space for the space we owned in California. Good luck!

Marie - I know they were together, but they were having such trouble sleeping, so we moved them back in September of last year and that's when the mess began! Take care my friend!

Getting organized is such a wonderful feeling-
We have 3 boys, and it seems that once we finish organizing or rearranging, its time to start over!
way to go-

Ahh, bunk beds are the best. Except on laundry Day!

It looks great. I think bunk beds are fun. Did they fight over who gets to sleep on the top bunk?

We don't have a whole lot of space either so I am always trying to think of new ways to store and organize!

I'm all for organizing and decluttering, so I'm loving this post. What a great, freeing feeling. Your photo describes it well!

that is probably one of the most fabulous feeling...a clean and organized house. I finally almost finished mine, then, did really finish it...when the beginning part of it, started to get dirty again...so the cycle continues.....

Everything looks great! When my boys were a little younger they had bunk beds. It worked out great, for the time beacause they too, were sharing a room. Much more room with the bunks. :) Your house looks so cute, and organized! Good job! I hope the organizing bug will hit me this week.

I just love what you've done to decorate the space above your dresser. And the girls' room is super cute too. I did the bunkbed thing with my boys when they were small & it was wonderful. Now they are too old to occupy the same space together.
Your ability to organize is definately a gift from above. Can't keep up on it here. Kudos on a job well-done!

Yeah--what a wonderful sense of accomplishment! And it looks great! Love your SP.

Your Easter looks like it was quite festive despite the sickness...

I need you to come organize my house for me!

That is the best feeling! (I wish I had it.) The girls' room looks so cute. I love to have things like that all done.

James has bunk beds in his room. It comes in handy when we need a second guest room and Jessica can camp out in there.

I have redone our guest room about 10 times now... I just can't make everything that needs to go in there fit...

beautiful. I love order and clean. Sometimes I'm not so up for the work it takes to get it that way, but I still love it! Good for you!

The organized spaces look great! Good job. yes we have 2 sets of bunks. Since we built in 2 more rooms, we don't really need the bunks.... the girls' bunks separate for to 2 singles the other bunk doesn't, but it's OK cause one day Robby will have to share with Scott and we'll be ready.
