IKEA Chalkboard makeover

I purchased this chalkboard from Ikea and have been so annoyed at it's messy appearance. I could never keep it clean and I really never used it - except to store things I never actually used. To make it more conducive to the way our family works, I purchased a large sheet of this bird paper for $3.99 ( I still of some left!) and hot glued the paper along the edges and center of the chalkboard. I really like the way the light green plays off our orange kitchen.

I drove to Burlington today and on my way back this is what I drove through. It was pretty creepy having the water flooded so close to the road. I've never liked the whole long bridge or road right next to water thing - it's just too confining and too many things could happen.

Do you makeover products purchased at IKEA?
Are you home and not at the blog parties, like me?
Do you scared of going over bridges?

Hi Michelle

That paper you used on your chalkboard is gorgeous. What a perfect way to transform your board.

Love the make over of the chalk board. I will be home missing the blog party. The hard part is knowing that I live not that far from where it is taking place. But have other activities that I need to see about with my children. Will try hard to make sure my day is clear for the next blog party. As for the flooding. I would feel just as you do, if I lived in the same situation.

Yeah, I agree. The flooding is a little creepy. I sometimes wonder about those high bridges in CA over the fwys; remembering what happened in the last big earthquake in SF area when it collapsed. Scarey...

What a cute makeover! I have that same chalkboard and just recently took everything off it and only put a couple things back on. It's still not feeling very functional though. It's kind of ridiculous to have a chalkboard that I won't let my kids write on because of how messy it appears. :)

Last night while watching CSI Miami, I told my husband that it would just freak me out to drive along that long freeway they have with water on both sides...
Your chalk board is so cute!
I didn't know about any blog parties.. Sounds fun, but the girls & I are home while the boys go off to Father's & Sons..

Your chalk board make over was great!! I love your creativity and ideas. I know it sounds stupid but I am so stressed about decorating my new house. I can appreciate a cute decoration when I see it I just wish I could come up with it in the first place.

Helllooo!
That board is lovely! I love that bird print, and the colour is fab. Very 'National Trust'!

No, I'm totally not at the blog party! But am so excited to hear how it goes.

Bridges - hmmmm, I do actually find it quite exhilirating to cross a bridge. But I've recently watched the 'Ice Road Truckers' series, about the ppl who takes supplies to the Canadian diamond mines, and that is terrifying! They drive over a frozen lake!!!

Yes, I'm alone too. No blog-party for me. Have you noticed the blogs seem to be quiet? It is because they are all to busy actually TALKING to one another!

The bird paper is really pretty. We have an ikea chalk-board too, but my kids love it. We use it a lot. We don't use the white-board side very often though because I have to watch the markers so closely. Chalk just washes off.

Glad to hear you haven't gotten washed away with the water!
