SPT: One car family...

I am awful when it comes to recycling and no one in their right mind would consider me "green". especially if you saw my garbage can full of diet coke cans - I hang my head in shame. Green is my favorite color to wear, my eyes are hazel green, and I like green paint in my house - does this count? I am making a concerted effort to be more vigilant in my recycling and waste consumption. It's been hard not to focus on it a bit with all my lofty order goals this year. Eventually I will come round to concentrating on this, but for now the best thing I do for my environment is help our ozone by being a one car family. Craig commutes to work by train and I use our mini-van to get around town. If it's in the shop, we go without and I often walk to pick up the girls from school.

The girls have been talking about earth day all week and were told by their teacher to try to walk to school today. So off I go to pick them up in our super fast convertible - our double jogging stroller! Does recycling my moods or clothes count for being green conscious?

As for the goodmail contest - here is my answer:

A Sunday tent picnic

We are practicing for our road and camping trip to Maine and PEI. After setting up this tent, we realized that it wasn't as big as we thought it was - two five years, me, Craig and a mother-in-law= we need to get a bigger tent. We dined on whole wheat bread PBJ sandwiches, carrots, and nutter butter cookies! The winners of the flower magnets are Marie and Barb. Marie because you stated clearly that it was a tent and Barb because you were the first to mention it might be! Look for it soon! If anyone else is interested in flower crochet magnets I will be sending them out 5 for $10.00 ( including shipping). Lots of colors available -just use my email on my profile page!

Did you do SPT?
Do you like picnics?
Do you like to camping and are you camping this summer?

Good for you for trying to be earthwise. Have you ever seen Al Gore's movie about Global Warming? It definately makes you think about respecting the planet more.

I think making small changes still makes a big impact--it's better than nothing at all. Walking to school or an errand is good on so many levels. Your convertible--hahaha.

It's funny, I was thinking that same thing about recycling my mood. Great minds...

Uh, one car family is totally green! Every little bit counts! I think it is great that you walk to the school to get the kids...whoohoo!

One car is great...we used to do that, but don't have a choice anymore with my husband's job. I love walking to pick up my daughter from school. It means the sun is shining and we're all getting some fresh air!

Also...love the color green for clothes, accessories, etc.

Hey at least you walked! You did your part.. What a fun little picnic to have with the family.

I used to sleep until kids, than worrying about if they are cold, getting up at night to take them pee, etc...

And getting older & not enjoying the ground & being dirty.. But it is still fun & we go a few times a summer.

Yes I SPT'd.

Sister winners? That is funny! I love love love your crochet flowers, and my girls get compliments on their belts all the time.
Being a one car family is a major contribution to a greener earth, don't downplay it!

You REALLY are doing your part by being a one car family...not many of us could or would be willing!

I love the SPT of you in front of the car...it's a great photo of you, beautiful!

i think it's AMAZING that you are a one car family. we were until about 4 years ago. now, i see so many hurdles to getting back to being a one car family. so, good for you!

We were supposed to be walking to school this week too, but that would have meant leaving 1/2 hour earlier than usual and we haven't been successful yet.

I love your SP! Cute.

I think walking to school is a great alternative and a one car. I bow down to you with one (we wouldn't survive!)

Cute SPT shot!

That is awesome that you can manage with one car. I did it for a while when Luci was a baby but I think it's harder when the kids start school, etc. You are a strong woman - lierally - to push them both to school!

I try to recycle, because it just seems like I am throwing things away all day. I can't believe how much garbage we go through.

I wish that I could walk to school, hello 10 miles away.

I think being a one car family is great! When you mentioned your Diet Coke cans I had to chuckle. We have a few of those too! :)

Love the magnets! So cute, and springy!

You have Good Mail on the way! :)

I laughed at your last comment about recycling your moods.
Wonderful that you guys can just have one car- and that transportation is reliable.
I would love to walk my kids to school! How fun for your family!

Ya! I won! Okay, WE won, since it was Barb and I. How fun! I love the crocheted flowers. I am so excited for them.

We are a one car family, but not by choice. I'd get another in a heartbeat if I could.
