Teeth and something right...

Monday the girls and I took a trip to Plattsburgh to visit the dentist for their first ever appointment. I realize that they are much older than the required age for first appointments and really have no excuses! My word these girls were so well behaved I almost did a double take to check they were actually my children! Nini was particularly brave but needed a bit of reassurance from Cici and reached out to grab her hand while she Rachel, their hygienist, was polishing her teeth.
The were polite, followed instructions, and never once shed a tear or a yelp. It was one of the moments where I realized that Craig and I must be doing something right in our parenting of these two brave girls. The x-ray machine was pretty cook and the were perfect for this too. It was a very weird thought, seeing this big x-ray machine circle around the girl's head.

They had just filled the prize box that day - so they were the first to check out the new stuff. The only draw back to this was Nini does have a tiny cavity that needs to be filled has it is on one of our back teeth. The great thing about our visit is that they ask me every night to help them floss their teeth! Good girls!

Thank you for your wonderful comments about my new header and the girl's dresses. I thought I'd show you the original photo and their cute little faces. This photo was taken this last Sunday as we drove to a session of General conference at the church building (there were two baptisms we needed to attend in between the two sessions). I forgot about that blue trash can in the back! I didn't get to snap an Easter photo because we had too much snow and I was naturally running late that day. Thanks again! btw - the dresses at purchased at the Winner's store here - it came with a cute little minnie baby doll dress that goes with it.

Are your children normally well behaved at the dentists office?
Are you well behaved at the dentist?!
Did you have braces? (I did!)

I am not a good shopper. Everytime I see something cute and I ask where it is from, the answer is always Winners. But without exception, every time I go, I find nothing. I am going to hope and pray I can find one of those dresses for Aimee though.

I love that your girls reached out to hold each other's hand when things got a little scarey. That is so beautiful.

I don't know what is is but my kids love the dentist! We went on Tues. the 8th. Even Liv was begging to have some one look in her mouth. I'm so glad you had a good time. The holding hand thing is wonderful!! I love the dresses. I have never heard of Winners. Kenna had 4 teeth pulled last fall and has a retainer to prepare herself to braces. She is only 8. It seems to start young these days.

Thankfully for our dentist, my kids and I are always troopers...although probably not one of our favorite things to do.

It was precious of the girls holding hands like that. It warms your heart for sure!

The dresses are adorable...as are the ones wearing them!!

That is so sweet that your girls held hands at the dentist.. I love their pictures. The dresses are beautiful!
All 4 of my kids love going to the dentist. They have games, a movie room, toys & than they get tokens after for being good to buy their own little toys... Sure beats what the dentist was like when I was a kid!

Ahh the dentist. I am ok driving there, but once I arrive and hear the equipment I get a litle freaked out. Luckily I have found an excellent dentist who is very gentle.

It sounds like a good precedent has been set for your girls regarding dentist trips. It's so very sweet that they held hands when it got a bit scary. What a beautiful example of sisterly love.

THose dresses are so darn cute! The picture is darling.

Yea for good kids at the dentist. Thankfully my kids have always been good when we go. They are even good when they have to get cavities filled. It is hard to tell if any of them will need braces. Both Jason and I didn't need them so hopefully they will take after us both and we can save some serious money!

Your girls dresses are so cutes !
You have really brave littles girls. I don't knw if my kids would be as brave because i still haven't took them over there. But I know that I really don't like to go over there even if my faher is a dentist. Since a month I tell myself each day that I will take my appointement to the dentist, but evey day I forgot to do it :-)

Love, love the dresses!

My kids have been going to the dentist every 6 months since they turned 2 and now they finally go in without having to sit on my lap!
Glad you had success!!

Braces - I had them. Twice.

My kids are too good about the dentist... sometimes I wish he wasn't so good so they would have more incentive to brush!

I love those moments when we feel like we are doing something right as parents.

I had braces... through most of high school!

I took my kids to the dentist for the first time back in Oct. My daughter did surprisingly well while my son screamed his head off and the worst part was I had to hold him on my lap and try to keep him still. Not a fun experience!!

Moments like that do make you feel so good inside. I can't say my kids behave like that at the dentist(since my BIL is the dentist) Way to go girls!!

I did have braces for about a year, and good for you driving to a bldg for conference, I probably would have opted out on that and listened on the computer or something.

Love this post Michelle!!! My girls are good now at the dentist but my middle one used to be terrified, we actually had to have her completely knocked out twice - at the hospital so she could get work done - not good, but she is great now?? Maybe just an age thing.

I am terrible at the dentist - tear just roll down my face, not because I am scared it just happends. I dont mind needles or even fillings but the picky thing they use to scratch at your teeth just sends me over the edge. Luckily I have a wonderful dentist who is British (not that I think that matters) he has a fabulous accent. He is so patient with me he always checks on how I am and is just great. I have just started taking the girls to him, before that they saw a pediatric dentist.

I too had braces for 2ish years, but my teeth are now exactly the same as they were before, mine were not that bad but all three of my siblings had terrible overbites and really needed braces, I think the dr just thought oh well if we are doing the other three we might as well do something on her too!!!

Have a great weekend - luv Mandi

I certainly am NOT well-behaved at the dentist. My poor dentist had to have me, a pregnant woman, in the chair a few weeks ago with no gas! I'd honestly rather be in labor & give birth that be in the dentist chair, and that's no lie.

I've been planning a post on it (remember my veneer which cracked off?...), but every time I go to post it I get anxiety.

I hate to go to the dentist... it's never good news for me! My kids are pretty good, I've not taken the twins yet... that could be a nightmare!
