Craig and the Paddle Boat

I have a little running blog joke I do on my posts when I do something really silly and embarassing. It's a great way to laugh at myself and not take things so seriously - which I am prone to do. I have never given this award to anyone else until now - and the honor goes to my husband Craig. We are in Lake Placid, NY ready go on our first paddle boat ride with the girls.

They won't allow more than three in a boat, so we rent two: Cici and I in one and Nini and Craig in the other. I get in to the first boat with the help from the girl who helping on the dock and then I help Cici on to my boat. I am talking with her and look out of the corner of my eye to see Craig half in the boat and half out of the boat. The boat is sinking quickly as he is scrambling to find a way to get back onto the dock without sinking the boat. Long story short he's half wet, our small camera is completely ruined, and all the people in the restaurant above the boat dock are laughing. Yes, it was quite the site! Craig stepped in the paddle boat incorrectly, which made the boat and him start to sink. They had to pump out the boat!

I was grateful that Nini was not in the boat at the time of the sinking incident. I can't say it was all that laughable at the time, since our camera was ruined - but the more I thought about it - the more funny it becomes - truly!

How easy is it for you to laugh at these type of moments? Do you find it takes time?

It's very easy for me to laugh at times like this. If it had been my husband I probably would have been in hysterics.

In my younger days I might have been a little upset about the camera...but not now though. If it had been my bigger, more expensive camera??? Even then, what can you do about it after the fact. Thankfully, I've mellowed out a bit with my old age.

Hey Michelle
Wish i was there ,sorry to say but i probalby would of laughed till i cried because its usually these things that happen to the females.
The only bummer is that your camera got ruined, but in the log run its an excuse to get a new small camera.

As long as no one was hurt, well except for the camara, I am pretty sure I would find it funny. I might be upset at first but I would later find the humor in it.

Major bummer about the camera! But I bet it was quite a site to see him sinking. I might have laughed! Most times these kinds of funny need time!

I have so many embarrassing moments there are too many to count. I have learned to laugh at myself most of the time and am trying to teach the kids the same thing. Sorry about the camera!

I have the nack of falling which I have done numerous times in all kind of places including the last time getting out of a boat in Venice (almost falling in the canal) and leaving some really good marks down my leg. In fact, I have a nice scar to remind me of the event. But, even though I HATE to be the center of attention, I have learned the only was to handle that is to laugh "with" everyone.

This makes me laugh! I know I would be cracking up if it had been my husband. I love to sit back, and think about all of the crazy happenings in life that make me chuckle. :)
