Daily Doodles: Sewing and Flowers.

I love catching the girls in moments they aren't expecting. While Craig and Nini were making ice cream, I picked up the camera in hopes of capturing Nini's cute Sunday do...isn't she cute?! I just love this photo!

I made a goal over a year ago to complete 100 friendship pillows, sending them to those special friends and family who have touched my heart and made me a better happier person. This pillow for Barb still means that I am under 10 made and I hope this year to step up the pillow sewing and get more out the door. I made this one from padded fabric and ribbon - it's probably one of my favorites!

I have been busy making small changes in our house to make it more streamlined and less cluttered - my year long goal in action! White is such a nice bright color in a children's room, but plain wasn't going to cut it for the girl's bedroom. This cost me only $4.00 for the iron on felt flowers, as the curtains I had in my linen closet. They were the same ones that were in our kitchen. I ironed them on at the top spreading the colors out evenly and trimmed the floor length curtains to the window sill so that they didn't drag on the girl's bedroom floor. It was easy and cost effective and worked at brightening their room for the winter!

I haven't posted this week because things here have seemed a bit more hectic than normal...and I just haven't had a great week, things are on the upward swing and I'm back on my feet though. I tend to be the silent type when things are stressful, so please excuse my "blog silence". The girls start school next Tuesday, but for now thanks for all your comments and thank you Amanda L. for your beautiful and thoughtful card-it was truly inspired and just what I needed to hear - especially this week!
Do you find it hard to snap photos without the silly poses or fake smiles?
Do you like to sew?
Have you made a friendship pillow?

I am the silent type too when things are stressful. Hence, I have posted in over a week!

Glad you got my note...nothing like some good mail to help right?

Your pillow is darling. Pillows are not my forte, although I enjoy sewing.

I love to snap shots without smiles and poses. Your of Nini is darling.

Hang in there!

I, too, disappear when life gets stressful or difficult. My friend Kara says I "go underground."

That pillow is FABULOUS! Wow, you are talented.

And as for the house projects...how do you accomplish so much? I'm in awe. And more than a little intimidated.

I am amazed at your creativity:)

I understand your absence. I get that way too sometimes. Cant wait to read more from you in the near future!!

I love them. You are so talented. I can't believe all the cute - cute things you make with your girls. I wish I had an ounce of your talent.
And the pictures are adorable too..

Sounds like a fun night out might be just what you need! How does next Thursday sound?

I rarely get photos without silly faces, I love to sew (though rarely do these days) and I've never made a friendship pillow (maybe that's where I should start up again!)

I love Nini's fliped hair. YES she is sooo cute. I love the pink and green colors of the pillow very cute. I wish I had time to sew but never make the time I guess. I dont croche and it wouldn't be as cute with out the flower. Good Job. I have times of blog silence too. We can only do so much.

Hi Michelle

Nini is just gorgeous in that photo.

What a "beauty full" idea to set a goal of making 100 friendship pillows. The one you have made for Barb is so sweet. What a precious gift for her to receive, one that she will treasure. I think gifts like this, straight from the heart, are priceless.

I hope you are having a wonderful week.

Lots of love
Elise

I'm glad you are now on an up-swing. Some weeks are so tough.
That friendship pillow is so incredibly cute! I can't sew. At all.
However, I did once sew a pillow in my 7th grade home-economics class. It was shaped like a phone.
I have so many photos of fake smiles, that I am truly on a quest to capture more candid ones. That picture of Nini is very, very cute.

My kids are all at a stage where they give me cheesy "fake" smiles, but I figure that is them at the moment so I proceed to still take the pictures. So many cute projects. I am WAY impressed that you make 90 of those pillows and gave them all away. What an inspiration you are!

Such a cute picture of your darling little Nini. And I really like what you did with the flowers. I have been sewing for more than 34 years. I have a shop on etsy where I sell little girls dresses, but for some reason I have just about lost all interest in it this summer. I'm sending happy thoughts your way, for a great upcoming week!
