Keepsake Finds.

When you come across it, you know that it's the perfect sentimental item that will be around for years and passed down to your children. A keepsake is anything kept, or given to be kept, as a token of friendship or affection; remembrance. This Christmas is going to be extra special with this Nutcracker topsy turvy doll by North American Bear Company. The owner of the Bar Harbour store where I found these, was adamant that they were not new. I was so floored by this and the other dolls they had on display, I think I overwhelmed her with my enthusiasm.

We introduced the Nutcracker to Cici and Nini by showing them the version that stars Home Alone's star Macaulay Caulkin. They had already seen him in the Home Alone movie and loved it! They watched for him throughout the ballet and I know that's what started their interest. Then we purchased the Nutcracker Prince a cartoon version of the Nutcracker. They've watched it several times since last Christmas and even though it's a bit scary in some parts, they still enjoy it! Now when Christmas comes along this year, we can tell the story to them with the Ttopsy turvy doll and prepare them for seeing it on the real stage!

Check out these other dolls:Dorothy, Little Bo Peep, and Little Red Riding Hood .

Wouldn't these be wonderful as baby shower gifts or to tell your favorite story?! What do you think? Have you seen these before?

A long time ago we owned the Macaulay Caulkin video and my oldest daughter loved it dearly. (She was 2 and she probably watched it 100 times or more. That year my SIL gave me a nutcracker for Christmas, and Xuxu immediately took possession of it. She carried it around like a baby doll, wrapped in a blanket and everything. She would get some looks, and then people would look a second time and you'd see a sudden "realization" come over their faces, and we'd know that they understood!

I'll have to buy a DVD version of it and introduce it to my younger girls this Christmas. I know they'll love it, esp. Mouse who wants to dance ballet more than anything!

I have seen those before in a few specialty toy stores. Whoever first came up with the idea for two dolls in one sure was a creative person.

How neat to stumble across these!

I have one that was mine when I was a child. It's a Swiss Alps girl on one end and an Aunt Jenima on the other. Both ends of the spectrum I guess!
