SPT: Faster, Higher, Stronger: Part 2

I find it completely exhilarating to finally be able to learn something I've been trying to do for years. One of my goals this year was to swim; not just swim, but really learn all the strokes and know how to do them well. The girl's swim instructor is a woman that is in our ward (church). She's just beautiful and very, very talented at swimming. The girls seriously learned the concept of swimming within one lesson from her - she's so great! I decided that it would be fun to see if she could teach me a thing or two - and boy was I right. She was able to show me the things that I need to do better or to change. I've had one other lesson and I'll be working at it when I can! This fall I am heading down to the center and swimming as much as I can, in hopes that I can get better, stronger, and finally faster at swimming laps...and one day do a triathlon!

Do you know how to swim?
Do you use swimming for a weekly or daily exercise?

I do know how to swim, it is something that I should start to enjoy again. I think that it is wonderful that you are putting your best stroke forward and going for it. Great picture and good luck with that goal.

hi, michelle:) i know how to swim; but, like you, i'm sure a professional could teach me a thing or two (or three or four;)!!!
that's great that you are aiming toward a triathlon:D wow, it would take me YEARS to get my body in the shape it would need to be in to do that!!!
i told jenn when she was training that my best friend (moonpie on blogger) has competed in several, so i am VERY familiar with the preparation.
good luck; you swim, bike, run... girl!!!
love,
dani

I do know how to swim but not good enough to do all of the laps needed for a triathlon. I usually just get in our pool and tread water for 15 minutes...I figure it's still good exercise for my legs...but you go girl! We're all proud of you for your efforts!

Good for you, Michelle!!! I admire your enthusiasm to get better at swimming! :) I do swim, and wish I did more. I have fibromyalgia, and it feels so good to get in the pool, and swim!

I swam in HS on the swim team but did it more for the fun. I don't remember ever LEARNING the strokes so who knows if I do them properly! Good for you!

This is very impressive to me. I can swim, but not really well. You have inspired me to hopefully take lessons someday also.

A little Olympic spirit goes a long way! That's great that you followed through on one of your goals...they say that the swimming part is what keeps a lot of people out of triathlons and now...no worries.

good for you! I have thought about a triathalon, but the swimming and the biking thing keep me from doing it. ha ha!

I would like to learn how to really swim. I am in awe at these athletes in the olympics. They can swim so incredibly fast, it is just amazing. That Michael Phelps is incredible.

I hated swimming lessons as a child. I like your idea, I may just try it myself.

How fun! I LOVE swimming and am a fish at heart. I grew up with a pool in my back yard and try to swim when ever I can. Good for you for trying something new.

I am so impressed. What a good idea to take a swim lesson. I could definitely use lessons. I can swim, but I'm not very good or very strong.

Perfect SPT!

Way to go! I love swimming...it is my THANG...but I haven't been in the water since HS...so sad. Your post makes me a little more motivated to get to the pool and take a break from my running shoes!

Awesome.

Just this summer i tried to really 'swim' with my kids in the pool and it is exhausting. What a workout...and so good for your joints.

This is great I hope to hear more about it!

you look totally adorable! i guess, since i've *known* how to swim my whole life, i've never thought about taking lessons to improve. fantastic!

we hare awaiting the opening of a brand new regulation INDOOR pool here. a total thrill, considering there is no year-round swimming here. maybe i will be more inspired to *learn* to swim when i'm not competing with ocean waves!!

hey missy phelps....how fun. I love swimming. I love to be in the water and I wished I could do it all the time. Right now the kids are soo small and they are clingy...although they are getting their ropes on swimming it is still no free time for moi! But maybe I will when they are asleep...although the water would be freezing....
