Coherent the whole time.

Our Monday night meeting at the school to "meet the teacher" ended up being quite the interesting evening. I entered the school as just a parent and came out as one of six members of the Governing Board within the school. I guess it would compare a lot to the PTA in the states. How did this happen? Apparently, I raised my hand when the principle asked if there was anyone else, something I had always tried to avoid in grade school, interested in going through the election process. Apparently, I then made a speech, and was voted in as a new board member. Obviously, I was coherent for all of this and I am very interested in seeing what the we will be working on this school year.

Cici and Nini's teacher is so cute and wonderful and you can tell she loves to teach! Craig sat in Nini's desk and I sat in Cici's as we listened to her presentation. After it was finished, we pulled out the girl's journals that they write in everyday and wrote a little "I love you" not in them that they could find the next day!

Have you "meet the teacher" yet?
Are you on a school board or PTA?

We went to the middle school night -- you follow your child's schedule and meet each teacher and learn their expectations. {we cut class early and went to dinner.} I didn't go to the grade school one since all my older kids had the same 3rd grade teacher.

I was PTO co-president for two years when my two oldest were still in grade school. It was sort of frustrating because there was so little parental involment. It was amazing if we could get even 4 people (that weren't on the PTO board) to show up for meetings. But it was worth it. I volunteered quite heavily to work in my children's classes as well, and I have never regretted a minute of it. Good for you Michelle!!!

In the last year I have MADE myself stop volunteering especially off the seat of my pants. I had just volunteered myself in too many directions and was feeling overwhelmed. So, now I resist the immediate urge and give myself time to think about it. Time at Carly's school is one of the things i have decided is worth it and so important for her.

You will be the perfect person for the job...congratulations. I volunteered in the grade school, jr. high, and was even on the school board while my two were in high school. It is so important to be involved and our children appreciate it, no matter what age they are. Even when my kids were in high school and I was still so involved, I know they were proud of it...and I don't regret a second of it! It hasn't stopped yet, we're still making trips to AZ for college functions!

I love the pictures of you both sitting at the desks! Adorable!

You will be so good Michelle. They need good people in there. I do know my teachers. I use to be, but that was with the boys many moons ago. With my younger daughter, I prefer to volunteer.

I've met the teacher and offered to help as much as I'm welcomed to with a 3 year old in tow, but I'm hiding from the governing board! Cudos to you!
