Squirrel's, not your typical weather reporters.

It has been confirmed today that winter is indeed coming to Montreal. Besides the bitter cold temperatures and one minute daily sun exposure (if we're are lucky), our trusty herd of squirrels that live around our home have been madly setting up their nest. They've been up and down this tree collecting leaves and creating this...

I would say they've done a smashing job! It looks almost inviting, except for the fact it's up a 30 foot tree - and it's outside.
Are you ready for Winter?

They're probably the cutest forecasters I've ever seen.
I guess we're as ready as ever down here in Vegas. Thank goodness our winters are pretty mild.

I love that you caught one going up and one going down in the same shot! After seeing pictures of your snow last winter, I am not convinced that leafy nest is going to cut it for them!

How fun for you to watch. I am thinking I am just about ready for winter to set in.

Wow. Nice nest! How fun to watch them build.

How are you feeling today?
I hope better.

This kind of puts a different perspective on things. Here we are, sharing a world, with thousands of species of animals, birds, reptiles and fish, and they have absolutely NO concern for what we silly humans are doing.
It makes you feel sorta small when you think about it.

They almost make winter look inviting! Enjoy!

Yes, I am waiting for winter! I need to have the seasons change. We've had snow a couple of times, but it didn't ever last long, and I'm having trouble remembering that Christmas is coming when it just doesn't look like it outside.

How fun for the girls! I was surprised at how many homes I saw CHristmas lights on as I drove around this evening... before Thanksgiving! But maybe people are trying to beat the cold!

Hi Michelle

What a beautiful treat for your family to witness. Looks like they are making themselves a cozy little nest for the winter.

Lots of love

I miss having squirrels in my backyard! We had tons when we lived in Chicago and loved feeding them and watching them jump from tree to tree. Our trees here just aren't old enough to shelter squirrels, I'm afraid... It's gotten really cold here too and I HATE it!!!
