For Remembrance Day...

In Flanders Fields
by John McCrae

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Are you wearing a poppy today?
How do you remember?

i'm wearing my poppy from barb today. it was pinned to a copy of this poem.

i really love calling it remembrance day. it seems much more touching than "veteran's day."

Is it crazy that this is the first time I have heard it called remembrance day? I love it so much more. It reminds me that we need to call Jason's dad and thank him for his service.

Carter bought his own poppy at school this year. He faithfully wore it everyday in November. On everything. His shirt, his coat, his backpack, his pjs....
