You know you are a mom...

When cupcakes become art.

The girls are turning eight this month and their friend birthday party is today. Their theme this year is a surfer/beach theme. The cupcake idea was inspired by the little umbrella's I picked-up at iParty. The blue frosting is the ocean and the idea for the surf board and lifesaver was inspired by my sister. I tried to find that fruit striped gum for the surf boards - but to no avail. I settled for some red watermelon stick gum and cut it into the shape of a surfboard. I used gummie lifesavers, but next time I will probably use the hard candy with the "lifesaver" stamped more clearly on it. Wish me luck and pray that my husband will be able to get off early to help!

Adorable!! Love the surfboard idea.

I posted a photo of a "celebration" wreath I made this week. I also made a corn husk wreath for my dining room. I love this time of year when I my creativity is sparked again (i do my best crafting in September - December).

Hope the party is a big success!
