Dutch Baby

Here is my mom's wonderfully delicious Dutch Baby recipe.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and take 2 TBSP to a 1/4 cup (I use it with the 2TBSP which keeps a serving down to under a 100 calories) and put in round or 9x9 square pan.  Take the pan and put it in the oven to melt until hot and bubbly.

Beat 3 eggs
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup milk until smooth.

Take mixture and poor into hot butter and put in oven for 18-25 minutes.

Turn on your oven light and watch it rise!
Your finished product should be puffy on the sides and and in the middle.
Snap that photo quickly, as it will immediately begin to fall once it is out of the oven.

Keep your serving under a 100 calories by slicing it into six servings.
I dish it on many occasions as a side to roast,
or top with more sweet options like powdered sugar or syrup.

Do you like dutch baby?
Would you try it if you haven't?

Hey I know this recipe! We call it German Puffed Pancakes. Ash has learned to make it and she does all the time for breakfast. We have ours with syrup and powder sugar. Our recipe is 6 eggs, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla and a dash of salt. We make ours in a 9x13 pan. It doesn't feed our whole family. We have to make 2 if we are all eating. That darn teenage boy.

My friend made it once and topped it with a vanilla pudding and then whipping cream. It was really good.

We call these hootenanny pancakes at my house. I prefer to eat mine with sour cream and strawberry jam (preferably homemade).

We love these, we call them German pancakes, but I asked my mentor teacher who is from Germany if they really are "German" and she said no- so we will have to start calling them Dutch Babies- that is a much cuter name! :)

These are awesome! We called them monsters growing up because they puff up when they get all "hot and angry" then when you take them out of the oven, they calm down. Or at least that is what mom used to tell us. She would say if we get all hot and angry, we belonged in the oven instead of out with the family.
