Daily Doodles and S.W.A.K. Good Mail Winner.

I couldn't resist posting this! Craig returned home from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories without any flight delays - yeah! As always, he brought home some goodies for the girls and some interesting Yellowknife Souvenirs. I am not a proponent of words such as in the sign above, however, the fun of this sign is that it is the name of an actual road in Yellowknife. The term "ragged ass" is a slang term fro "dirt poor", check out the history of the road here.

I wouldn't want to ever live in a place where a mosquito could be this large! I realize this is a gag gift (for my dad) for tourists, but still they wouldn't have a gag gift like this if they were known to have small mosquito's!

Friday turned out to be a really great day! It was beautiful weather up to 60 degrees and hotter in the sun. I was able to get outdoors this morning and take a beautiful 30 minute walk without the girls. Just me and my IPod. When I returned one of my girls, Cici, was having a fit because I went without her.

This is what Nina did while I was taking a shower. She filled the cup with play dough and put some straws I had on the counter into it. When I asked her what it was she said, "It's the London Tower!" The London Tower would be "Big Ben"! What a creative little girl.

I took this picture after my walk as I was so excited to finally have our first bloomed flower. When we were leaving the house an hour later for Costco, my beautiful Nina had picked it! If I were her, I would have done the same thing. We headed to Costco to make an appointment for an eye exam. We waited about 10 minutes, which to me, seems like a really long time to wait. I walked up to a woman who seemed to be making herself busy ignoring customers and I asked her, "I need to make an appointment for an eye exam." She said back to me, "Quarante-six? ou Quarante-sept?" I looked at her blankly and said "In English please." She asked again the same questions, and I repeated "In English Please!" we circled the same question and statement again until I suddenly realized that she was asking me what number I was 46 or 47. I know how to say both these numbers but rarely run into anyone who refuses to speak English. I felt very silly not knowing what she said, I should be able to recognize simple words like this.

I am so excited to give these to the two women in our ward from Russia and the Ukraine. One of the sisters is still learning English, so she often has a hard time understanding the lessons in Relief Society. I was asked to be their visiting teachers, so this will be a great VT gift to give them. I can't wait! He also picked up the green child CTR rings in Russian and French for the girls. I knew they made the expensive ones in different languages, but the child ones they hand out in primary was a surprise to me.

The batch I made was supposed to yield 50 lip balms, however, my expertise was not as it should be and I filled them higher than Jenn must have filled them. The winner of the S.W.A.K. Good Mail Contest is JENNY! My batch yielded 42 lip balms. Thank you to everyone that entered!
Stay tuned for Good Mail on Saturday and a new contest on Tuesday.

You are so great that you got those Russian church materials! Thoughtful and useful, way to go!

Also, good for you for seeing yourself in your daughter when she picked the first blooming flower. Have you ever read the children's book Wheniwasalittlegirl?

Welcome home. The lip butter looks so awesome. I love the church materials in Russian. There is something about seeing something so familiar in another language that warms my heart.
