We arrived today into Burbank to beautiful 70 degree weather. The views were shrouded by the LA fog, but the breeze made up for it. It's interesting to be on vacation away from home, yet feel at home on our vacation. It will be a year in September since we moved from this area to Montreal. On our last day in Salt Lake I met a friend and her children at Liberty Park. Having never really been to Liberty Park, I was surprised to find an exceptional playground. The girl pictured above was the girls first official friend, playing together at age two. She is amazing on her little bicycle, no training wheels. In fact, her parents took her to a trail in Park City where she biked with them for nine miles without complaining!
Back to our trip to LA, we headed to my mother-in-law's (nicknamed Sassy) sister, Aunt Ruth and her husband Uncle Don. They were our only family connection when we lived in the area and the girls really loved visiting, especially because of the pool! We enjoyed visiting at their house and hitting the pool. This picture is of Elise and I plunging into the cold pool - it's better than a toe at a time. It was really cold! I found my swim suit at Land's End Sears - they had some great choices.
Nini looking really cool in her Batman goggles.
Picture with Uncle Don!
Cici picking fruit.
Uncle Done has a beautiful garden full of orance, lemon, grapefruit, lime, and tangerine trees. The tangerines were seriously like candy. I would have hand down given up a piece of chocolate cake for them- and that's saying a lot! He also has a garden he maintains year round. He picked out a really nice gift for each of the girls, a princess clock/book.
One of the joys of coming to LA is going to Olvera Street. Housing the oldest home in the city, Olvera Street is entirely free of traffic and lined with vendors and really authentic restaurants. We've been to Olvera Street when there was entertainment, crowds, in the afternoon, and now in at dusk. Close by is a mission where several homeless line-up, but there is a very safe parking lot right across the street from the closed street and plaza. The restaurants are really good, but the small walk-up kitchens are the best. These taquitos are so delicious, they are like no other taquito I've ever had. The green sauce they put on top is just right, not too spicy. 10 Taquitos, the sauce, and three drinks came to about $15.00.
The Famous Taquitos!
This is where both my battery and Sassy's batter in our cameras died. I was hoping to do a self portrait, but alas it just can't be this time. We our planning to spring Disney Land on them tomorrow, can't wait. Hope to visit your blogs soon!
