Look up and you might find a gem.

I really need to look up more often. I purchased the above children's book in California because I loved the old photos and descriptions of Paris. If the girls didn't like it, I knew I would enjoy it!. Yet in both California and Montreal, I've had it sitting atop the girls "don't touch" keepsake shelves. The other day, I was searching for something unique to put in Nini's red/blue inspired room, and Voila, I look up and inspiration hits.

Miroslav Sasek wrote and illustrated several children's books featuring the world's best known city's. This is Paris the book above, and most of his other books were published in the late 50's to 60's. I can't get enough of the old, unique illustrations featured in all of his books and loved going online today and researching the other books he wrote. Here are some of the books I'll be purchasing:

He also has This is New York, This is Texas, This Hong Kong and the list goes on. Aren't' these great! I can't wait to get the rest of his books for the girl's book shelves and copy the art for their walls. I couldn't find his works in any other print form than inside the pages of his books. Will keep looking though and share if I find it.

Gorgeous books! I've got 'keepsakes' shelf for Erin too. Full of beautiful pop-up books that I'm terrified she'll rip!

That artwork would look fabby on T-shirts too.

not sure where my comment went but it was something like this:

Great minds think alike!! I had to smile when I saw 2 posts on these books after I discovered them in NYC.

i ADORE these books. I picked up This is New York while on my trip and Ellie hasn't put it down since! Aren't they fab? I love retro books and these are chock full of good info and sweet pics.

I plan to get the others as we travel.

My copy of This is Sanfransisco just came in the mail. I love it and it is the perfect thing for my girls to look at before our trip this summer!
