As slow as a turtle, books, and goodmail!

We had an unexpected trip to Burlington, VT today that required us to leave Tuesday night. I have been putting off a visit to the doctor, yet when I finally did decide I needed to go - the first available appointment in Montreal would have been the 31st of August. Deciding that it would not be a good idea to wait and partly stubborn that I shouldn't have to wait so long to see a doctor - I took matters in my own hands and made an appointment in Burlington, VT at the University of Vermont medical offices. So that's where I've been!

While driving today on a very country road we swerved around a turtle on the road. We were so excited to see a turtle (impressed easily) that we turned around, parked on the side of the road, and I got out to pick it up. We let the girls see it and, so it wouldn't get run over, I put it off to the side of the road, where the cars couldn't hit it. Seeing the turtle was very fitting, since they are very slow, and that is how my vacation post is coming (or not coming) - very slow. All of a sudden, time just isn't on my side!

One of the fun things about vacation are the souvenirs and things you find along the way. In Lake Placid, NY I found this book printed by Green Tiger Press. I also picked up the Red Riding hood book. It has the vintage drawings and original stories, in a new print. I thought they would be cute to add to the girl's book collection. I also picked up some vintage style luggage stickers, the link to them are here.

Monday and Tuesday I busied my free time putting together good mail to ship in the states, but unfortunately, by the time I was able to ship it, they were all closed. I am still determined to send it, though! On our way back today from Vermont, I snapped this photo of the Montreal skyline. The freeway has the best viewpoint for photos!

I am doing well and am excited to spend some time at home without having to travel anywhere!

How is your week going?

btw --for anyone who reads my blog that knows my brother --he just got engaged!!!!

That is insane about the wait to get into a doctor! Geez!
I love that you turned around and took that moment to see the turtle! I bet your little ones loved it!
You are such a sweetheart - look at all that good mail! And you always leave the nicest comments on my blog. Thank you!
I like the hat, too, and think that maybe, just maybe, people will see it and think I'm 22! Ha!
Hope you can be home for a while with a slower pace to life!

That is crazy you have to drive to another country to get an appointment when you need it. Can't wait for more trip updates.

Luggage stickers are adorable, esp the b'day ones!
I loved Michael Moore's movie Sicko and he focused alot on how healthcare is easier to access in Canada . . .but now it's looking like that's not necessarily so?!

I love the vintage looking books. I am totally excited to click around their site. I love fairytales, but it is so hard to find them in their real form. They always seem to be twisted around, or told from another view point. Thanks for the tip!
