A bit of everything.

Our visit with Loan was a lot of fun! I got a hint of what it will be like when my girls are grown-up and finding their way through this adult world of jobs, love, and everyday life. The day of her arrival, the girls were beside themselves that someone was coming to visit them! We headed to the airport the girls were poised and ready for her to walk through the doors from customs.

Outback Steakhouse, about 1998.

This picture was taken after a birthday celebration at the Outback. Sally, Susan, and Loan were so much fun and it's been great seeing them "grow-up". The lady on the right was the YW leader at the time, and I was in the primary, but we all worked together for these cute ladies!

We tried hard to take a self-portrait of all of us, but we couldn't quite fit us all in. We had to have Craig snap the photo of all of us. We took her to several places around Montreal including where these photos were taken. It's of old town Montreal.

While Loan was visiting I got to show her all about goodmail! One might ask, why she doesn't already know about it, well, maybe it's because I'm not very good at sending it! A huge and gracious thank you to Annalisa for thinking of the girls and sending the cute barbie post-its and also some great stationary to me. Thanks Annalisa!

The same day I also received a thank you note from Michelle O. and Barb's cute Harry Potter bookmark! Thank you so much lady's! You really made my day brighter :)

Loan was really interested in learning to make my friendship pillows. Her mum is an excellent seamstress, but as it may go with my girls, she never was much interested in her mum's trade and rarely paid attention! She made two pillows one saying "Friend" and one saying "love". I am really proud of her, she did a good job and hopefully she just might continue doing a little sewing now and then!

Here is a bit of craft inspiration for everyone. I saw these at a store called "Fortunes of Time" in Lake Placid. It says "shhhh" at the bottom and you can put it outside your front door or the door of your infants room to let everyone know that it's sleep time. Anyway, what do you think? Have you seen these before?

Today, I drove to Vermont for our second round of treatments. My good friend Kathy watched the girls, bless her heart, even when she had a million things to do today. She's a doctor, works three days a week, has three kids her are all seven, and still has time to help others. I've been so blessed to have her as a friend here. This is my self-portrait of me driving before crossing into the US at the border. And yes, I did take it while I was driving - hey, at least I wasn't talking on my cell phone!

On my way back, I cam upon this accident of a semi truck that had skidded of the road and turned over. I can't imagine it had been more than five minutes since it happened. I was stopped behind another semi that couldn't continue on this road because of the live power lines that were on the ground. I zoomed in quite a bit to take this picture. I could of taken one as I passed, but felt that it wasn't right. I got to thinking about my ride home, and how I had stopped in at Michael's for five minutes on the way, and if I hadn't, would I have been in the semi's way. I remember praying for safety this morning and felt strongly that my prayers were being answered. Once I entered Montreal city, I was almost hit two times (inches away) and while looking in my rear view mirror saw a mini van swerve across the line to nearly miss another mini-van, both going 80 miles an hour. Scarrey stuff.

It's been a great week, the girls first day of school is Friday (only for two hours and Tuesday for 2 hours and than next Wed. full day). We are also headed out of the city for Labor Day weekend. While I am away, check out some of my friend's newly started blogs: Nicole, I met in California, I met her while teaching violin to her son. She's so sweet and last year she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Check out her blog on my sidebar! Also, Laura and Jenn I met while living in Utah. Jenn came to the girls sealing and I am so grateful for that. Laura was my visiting teacher and was the first to bring food when I had my gallbladder removed in 2003. They are both really sweet and very good writers - check them too on my sidebar! Charity, is a long-time friend, along with Heffalump and Sydney. Stop in and say hi! Have a great 3 day weekend everyone!

Frugal goal: Spend $100 or less on groceries at the cabin. We can't take a lot of food over the border, so we buy when we cross over. We can get carried away - so I put a $100 spending cap on. Wish me Luck!

So many fun photos. I thought I was the only one who endangered themselves while driving. I love how you captured the moment.

How far is that commute to Vermont? How nice to have such good friends to watch the girls.

So many things to cover! Wow, close call with the car. I remember to say a prayer before we go on a car trip, but never when it is just driving around town. Something I should think about, I guess.

I love the pictures of you and the girls with Loan. Fun.

Good luck with your spending cap on your trip. It is so hard to stick to.

Love all your goodmail. Fun to see we have matching bookmarks!

Have a great long weekend and good luck in Vermont!

Wow, you came so close to so many accidents. I had an experience like yours once with the timing of everything. I felt so blessed that day.

I hope your treaments go well. I am excited for you for this new chapter in your life.

Okay I have a tip also when it comes to being frugal. I am the bargin queen. I love to get things on sale. When it comes to clothes I have to be with 5 kids. I love my name brands so I have to be smart about it. I ususaly wait a little longer to buy their winter clothes. Most people go out and buy them all for their school shopping here. The problem is, is that it doesn't get cold till late september early oct. So if I can hold out till then the first batch of winter clothes goes on clearance for cheep and I can get my kids clothes at the gap and other places I like for the same prices I would get at walmart. Plus if you check online stores like old navy and gap their prices are almost always cheaper online and they go on sale faster. Plus for me shopping online for the kids is soo much easier than taking them places. Old Navy has a flat fee of 5$ for shipping on what ever size order you have.

Have a fun weekend.

Have a great weekend! We're praying that your treatments go well!

On a frugal note, the best way to save money is just don't shop. I know that sounds silly but I save tons more money when I am too busy with other things to go shopping. Besides food, I don't think I really miss the things that I would've gone shopping for anyway. So basically...busy yourself with other things. (That's supposed to work for dieting too, but I haven't got that one figured out yet!) :)

How fun to meet up with an old friend.

I would love to hear about what brought your family to Canada.

I hope all of your treatment is successful!!

Yikes, don't show me your self-portrait at the wheel and then tell me about all the accidents and near-misses on the road! Don't let Craig see this post, or he'll worry!

You sound hyper-busy, but v.happy. Hope the cabin break is lovely.

Glad you've had a good week, the girls look so cute.

Also glad you weren't hurt--near miss traffic accidents are completely scary.

It was so fun looking at your pictures. It looks like you had such a good time when your friend was visiting. I love the sign for the baby. I have never made one, but have seen them at a few boutiques. I think that they are wonderful idea. :)

It's always so humbling when you have a moment where you realize you would have been in the wrong spot if you hadn't done ________. We definitely experienced a reminder of how protected we were this summer on our road trip. What ended up an inconvenience (and a new car) could have really been a tragedy for our family.

Cute driving SPT!
