I hope that this is one of many
friendship pillows I will be making in the next months. I made a goal to make 100 friendship pillows back in February and my success rate is about once a month. By that rate - let me do the math....In about 12 years, I might be finished. If you want to know why I started to make these
here is my link to my original post and
here is the link to my friendship pillow Smugmug gallery.
The recipient of this friendship pillow was JoAnne, their pre-k and summer camp teacher. I mentioned before that she has been such a great teacher to the girls - we just love her. I can see that the girls will miss her very much as will I! I made this pillow for her to thank her for being such a great teacher and friend to the girls. Here is a picture of the pillow:
The back of the pillow is brown with turquoise polka-dots. The cutest material I've found in a longtime. The "friend" was simply cut out and sewn with a sewing machine around the edges. I've been making full size pillows, but felt that these smaller pillows with the strap made it so you can hang them anywhere. Plus, my original friend pillow shown here became one of my dogs new chewing toy; he chewed an entire corner which makes it unusable.

For Marie the lovely younger lady on the right, I purchased this small candle lantern and wrapped fabric around it with this polka-dotted ribbon. She was JoAnnes assistant during the summer camp and on occasion during the year. She's really sweet to the girls and I felt that this would show her how grateful I was for her help in the classroom. Both JoAnne and Marie, really loved the gifts and we took the special photo above before we left. It was Hawaiian day at school!
I don't think that Cici quite realizes that she won't be seeing JoAnne or going back to her old school. She keeps asking me when they get to go back and I keep telling her that she gets to go to kindergarten now. I am anticipating that when school starts, she won't feel as sad about not seeing JoAnne, because she will have some of her same friends at the school - just not her old teacher.

What great teacher appreciation gifts. I'm so glad your girls had a good experience in pre-K. I hope Carter likes it as much as they did. I cannot believe he starts in two and a half weeks. I'm going to miss him.
What a wonderful teacher appreciation gift. I bet the teachers love them.
My two boys are also going to a new school this year. But Jakob will have the same teacher. So that is not as bad.
So when does school start for your girls?
great gifts! I love the pillow.. that is so nice you can put time into the gifts.. I think that shows how much that you appreciate them!
another apron gift? oh my I need to get thinking on a good thrift tip then... you are so generous!
You are so kind. I am sure that both of the teachers are going to love their gifts. I still have the friendship pillow in my front room that you made. So cute!
