I am doing much better and have been since I awoke this morning. We headed out the door early so we could get across the border easily and without huge lines. Getting off the island was the hardest part of the trip, but once we crossed over the bridge it was smooth sailing. We are now officially proud owners of a cabin, or as they say here "a summer cottage." Personally it sounds a bit snooty when you say it like that. We are officially naming it "Acorn Cottage". The ground was covered with acorns on our first couple of visits and that's how we got the name. The squirrels have since collected most of them, because when we arrived at the cottage today, their were only a few left on the ground.

After we spent a few hours at our place, we took a ferry across Lake Champlain from NY to VT. We drove our car onto the ferry and were able to get out and walk around. We had a great time with the girls, they were well behaved and, well, just a lot of fun. The funniest thing was the wind was blowing so hard it kept blowing Craig's collars up in the air. I thought it was hilarious, but check out the video and decide for yourself! They just looked like wanted to fly away!
If you didn't think it was funny - I totally understand! After the ferry, I took 9 pieces of goodmail to the post office and sent them for half the price I would if I was sending them from Canada. I actually have more to send, but that's all I was able to get done for today. We ate at Chilli's and then headed home. By the time we arrived home, both girls were coughing a lot, so I'm hoping they don't get worse. But - tis the season for colds.
Here's some more pictures of our day:
I love how this picture of Nini came out. It was one of those moments you just happen to capture. Anyway, she's my faces girls. Whenever I try to take a photo, she's always making silly faces. So this was quite the treat to capture this.

Acorn cottage is the most perfect name I have ever heard. I read it and instantly felt cozy and homey, as if I had many fond memories of this place, though I have not been within 1000 miles of it. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
Great photos of the family, and yes, Nini's last pic was very beautiful.
Congrats on the cottage!
I'm so glad, after all the sickness you've been dealing with, you were able to get away and have a PLEASANT family outing! Congrats on Acorn Cottage! I love, love, love the name! Very appropriate.
Love the flappy collar...very cute pictures! That last one is very tender. My kids always act very un un-natural when I pull out the camera, so I love it when I capture a "natural" moment like the one above!
I love the name Acorn Cottage. The cabin looks adorable. How fun for your family.
I am glad you are feeling better. I am so jealous of your summer cottage! how fun would that be! I hope you enjoy every moment
I'm envious of he summer cottage as well - love the name Acorn Cottage. Looks like a place where family memories will be made for certain!!
Acorn Cottage sounds like a dream..what a place! that is such a fun name, and what a great place to get away too! glad you were feeling a bit better.
Congrats on the new getaway! So fun. That collar shirt video is pretty funny it looks like little bats trying to take off.
Glad you are feeling better :)
Acorn Cottage...Adorable! The name suits it perfectly.
Congratulations Sis.
Oh that is just awesome! Great name! Great trip! Adorable cabin. Love it! THanks for sharing your lovely family
I can't wait to show Paul your pictures. The cabin is so dinky and cute! We've always wanted to have a 'stuga' in Sweden, but it's SUCH a pipedream. We'd have to win the Lottery, and seeing as though we never play it, it'll never happen!
Acorn Cottage is adorable as a name. The girls will love it all.
Craig's collars made me GUFFAW out loud! So that's why they invented 'button down' collars...!
I laughed out loud at the video - and Amanda's 'button down' comment is hilarious.
The cabin is so picturesque and so is the woods. Enjoy!
I think Craig's blowing collar is funny, don't you just love being able to post video?
Your cabin looks so peaceful and great. Please document the inside too so I can live vicariously through you.
It's great that you can cross the border to send your good mail for half the price, what a score!
I love that last picture of Nini. That's a framer and would also look awesome in black and white.
