Paddington Bear.

Who remembers Mr. Paddington Bear? These little bears Craig found in a little London gift shop called Harrod's! Isn't it part of the whole London souviner thing to buy something, a box of cookies, anything from this store - just to say you bought something from Harrod's. Personally, I think the girls scored huge - when I asked "where's mine?" the girls looked at me as if I was a bit silly.

When the girls opened these little gifts, the memories just came flooding back. In second grade, we had the best librarian and I remember her reading the paddington books. She had purchased her own paddington teddy bear and put it up on a high shelf that ran the entire wall of the library. We were all excited that paddington was from London - see all the culture I received as a wee girl?! We were asked to go home, take our teddy bear, and dress him up like paddington. I don't remember exactly how I dressed-up my teddy bear, but I remember it staying up on the library shelf for several months.

Anyway, I was so excited to share this memory and these cute little souviners the girls got. I had a much better day today and yesterday. Thanks for checking up on me, I really appreciate it. We have a three day weekend this week and plan to finally close on a cabin we purchased in upstate NY. I'll give you details when the place is finally ours -we have a name picked out for it and everything. Plus, I'll have a US postal address! Maybe it won't take two weeks to receive packages - assuming I'd receive any!

I love Paddington! Lucky girls, indeed!

So great to have Craig home, isn't it? And wow on the cabin. Cool idea to name it. Very Anne-of-Green-Gables in my mind. I love that she named her home with Gilbert "Ingleside." I don't know what it means, by love saying it.

Glad you had a happier day!

I totally remember that shelf in the library! I never would have remembered it the rest of my life if you hadn't posted about it.
I remember having my Ocean Themed shadow box up on that shelf and once they all were up there I thought mine was the ugliest.
Cute, cute Paddington Bears.

Cute bear....nice sweet memory.
I didn't know you were buying a cabin in up-state NY. That's where Tim's family is from, Sodus to be exact. Where is your cabin? When are you posting pictures of it? I'd love to see it-never been there myself but I hear so many great things. And the people there are really nice. When Danica was born (of coarse got cards from Tim's family) but also from their neighbors!

I remember Paddington! That is a very cute one! My father-in-law got my girls some from harrod's in London too. About a year ago. It is never played with. You have inspired me to take a trip to the libray maybe they are old enough to listen to a book. Your Paddington is much cuter than mine!

Oooh, Michelle, Craig is topical in his purchases - there's been a bit of a rumpus over here with Paddington Bear because he's famous for his love of Marmalade (do you get that there? It's scrumptious!!), but he was used in a recent set of TV adverts for Marmite - and all the die-hard Paddington fans said, 'Oi! You can't have PB promoting Marmite sandwiches! He's a marmalade bear through and through!' - so the ppl making the adverts had to explain that the ppl who own the copyright to PB had allowed them to use him to promote Marmite, but the original creator of PB (Michael Bond) was quite annoyed and stated categorically to all PB fans that PB is and always will be a marmalade sandwich bear, not stinky Marmite.
(I added the last bit about Marmite being stinky, not Michael Bond. I don't think he said that)

So there you go...

Just so you know the 'latest' on Paddinton!

NY cabin sounds !!!!!! :-D

A US postal address is GOLD! What a nice thing to purchase a cabin, to have a retreat for your family.

Wow, Craig travels so much that it must get tricky trying to choose souvenirs to bring home.
