Morning Party!

To curb the girl's depression when Craig is traveling, I started their day with a little "party" outside their room. When they awoke, they would come out of their room and find stuffed animals with hats on reading a book, with a small treat or activity sitting nearby. This table I had painted earlier this year. I purchased the plain Ikea table and chairs and painted it to match some artwork in their room. While they were sleeping, I pulled the set out into the hallway and put some Easter stuff and snacks on top.

Honestly, I should have started this earlier! The four days I did a party outside their room were the best. I was able to sleep-in a little, read my scriptures, and enjoy a little peace before they became tired of it and moved on to something else. There was so much excitement when Craig returned, they forgot all about the party's! I am going to add this to my list of things to do when Craig travels! Yeah!

Wow! I have to say, you have got some major talent! What an adorable table! I would love to see the chairs that you painted to go with it. How fun to set the table outside of the girls room, so they would be greeted with it in the morning.

That's a really cute idea, you're brilliant. Your table and chairs are darling. We have that same IKEA set, but it's still naked pine. Drat.

I had to click on that image to get a good look at the flower on the table. It's FAB! I love that Ikea leave things blank for ppl to customise like that.

I agree, that's a tradition you should keep up.

The nearest I've got to that is occassionally I've set up a 'scenario' of dolls for Erin in her room for when she wakes, e.g. all the dollies sitting around a little blanket with her teaset laid out.

My mum is Irish and rolls her eyes when I do things like this and says: 'Haven't you little to be doing than setting up dolls?'

I think your Morning Parties are fantastico!!

That is a brilliant idea - I have a large hallway upstairs, and I'm totally inspired to do this. I'm going to wait for the perfect day.
