In 2004, I had the chance to go to Southern France and meet Craig after one of his business trips. We had both sides of our family living close to Salt Lake City where we were living at the time, so they volunteered to babysit and let me get some R&R. I flew from SLC to JFK, but when I arrived the flight that we were supposed to take from JFK to Charles de Gaulle had been completely cancelled letting 100's of people, particularly me, without a flight. If I didn't catch that flight I wouldn't have made my connection in Paris to meet Craig in Toulouse. Long story cut short in this following tirade:
Walked from my SLC flight to the Paris flight
Waited
Got on the plane
Waited for an hour (it felt like more)
Told the plane was having problems and that everyone would have to get off
Stood in line at the gate to find out what we needed to do
Told we had to check back out of security
Waited in line with the other 100+ passengers
Found a connection out of Laguardia
Took cab across town
25 minutes to take off, they were delaying flights takeoff
Madly ran with others taxi'd over to Laguardia
Stood in line at check-in
Told that they weren't going to let us on the flight
We would have to stay the night
Tried to keep it together
Got angry, shed a few tears, "if I didn't make this flight I wasn't going to be able to go"
Found pity on all of us
Let us through the gate
Ran at full speed through Laguardia terminal with the security guard in front
Was let on the plane
Sat in my seat
Sighed for relief - and ended up with a row all to myself. -Go figure.
Had a great four days and flew home with no problems.
This was a tirade that is inevitable when flying. One that I was not aware of, was regarding flight attendants. When they travel they have to travel with some flight attendant book. One of our flight attendants forgot her book and our flight was delayed another 30 minutes while we waited for her to return with her book. Before this we hiked across the Chicago airport from terminal C to F. Our flight was delayed for about 20 minutes when they switched gates from 12 to 14. An hour later, after they just announced they would be boarding in 15 minutes, they came back on and said that our gate has been changed to C5. They arranged a bus for us to take across the terminals, but when we got to the bus, they said that the shuttle wasn't working. Craig strapped on the girls suitcases, and two laptops I took the rest of the stuff and held the girls hand and we retraced our steps back to the same gate we arrived on. That's when the incident with the flight attendant occurred. The weather had also delayed some planes take-off and we waited again on the tarmac to take off for about 30 minutes.
Tonight we headed to one of my favorite eat spots on SLC - The Bombay House up by Foothill drive. I absolutely love their Chicken Tikka Masala with their Garlic Naan bread - oh and a Samosa to start. Excellent food. I am hoping to put up a 34 list or maybe if I get going a 100 list this weekend - so please keep checking back. I'm a couple days behind on my blogging as I left or cord at home that transfers photos.

First of all Happy Birthday!! I'm glad you made it here safely and that you've already gotten to eat some of your favorite food. The hassles of traveling are a large part of what I hate about going anywhere, but since my Paris trip went off without a hitch I'm now open to the possibility of going more places.
also, meant to tell you earlier a happpy happy birthday to you, too. hope you had a great extra special bday time. ~blessings, kathleen :)
