I can see your muscles growing.

I wrote this before we left for Utah and Disneyland, before they got their hair cut! It's such a cute moment in Nini's life - I still wanted to share.
Sitting around the table for Saturday dinner, I reminded the girls that they had to drink their milk before they left the table. One of my daughters gave me her usual scowl whenever I ask her to do something she doesn't want to do. I replied to her scowl that "Milk is what makes you really really strong!". This played on her affinity to be like the superheros she likes so much, and she began to drink. I looked at her and said,"WOW, I can see your muscles grow, you're looking really strong!"
I flexed my muscles (what little I have) and she began to flex hers. She looked down at her arm almost willing her little arm to get bigger. She said, "Mom, their getting bigger, see!" I said to her, "Wow, they are, do you think it's because you're drinking your milk! It looks like you have a little bit left, if you drink the rest, maybe you'll get even stronger!"

After a sip more of her milk, she looked at me with this face, so sure that she was getting stronger! She will, maybe not in that short of time, but she ended up finishing her milk, and being so proud that she was strong!

Remember kids - Drink your milk!

Carter does not like meat. And once we had a home evening lesson on eatting healthy, the different food groups etc, and we learned that meat has protein and that is what gives us strong muscles. Well, he still doesn't like eatting his meat, but when he is just shoving it around on his plate, I'll ask him "What does meat do?" and he'll answer, "gives me strong muscles!" and we'll get a few bites in him.
