I have shirts older than you!

Nini, only close neighbor from church, the senior missionaries, and Cici!

Craig left last night for London, but I have been keeping the girls busy and minds off of Daddy being gone. Nini had a melt down this evening, but we gathered her and Craig's picture (taken before he left) , her favorite stuffed animal, and a blanket and snuggled outside with some treats. Last week, I was lucky enough to find a great babysitter that watched the girls Friday night while Craig and I went on a pre-anniversary date to see Ocean's 13. Fun movie! Love Clooney, Damon, and Pit together. This morning I invited her over as well so that I could go to my hair appointment. When I arrived at the appointment, it was closed. So either I got it wrong, or they did. I'll stick with them for now. This evening I had our senior missionaries over and another sister over for a BBQ. I have pictures, but am a little too tired to post them!

Getting dessert ready!

While sitting around the table tonight with our senior missionary couple (for our church) , I mentioned that we have our 14 year anniversary Tuesday. They were very happy for us, and than spent the next 10 minutes talking about how they have shirts older than that and older than me in their closets! They are a very endearing couple.

I made this salad for our BBQ this evening. You could actually eat this as a meal, which I'll have to do since it made so much. For smaller families I would suggest halving the recipe, otherwise, it serves hardy portions, very good mix of ingredients, and is perfect for summer hot weather! I'm not used to taking pictures of my food!

Spinach Chicken and Pasta Salad

16 oz bow tie pasta, cooked al dente
1 cup vegetable oil (I used olive oil)
2/3 c. bottled teriyaki sauce
2/3c. white wine vinegar
6Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 (10oz) bag fresh spinach
1 (6oz)bag craisins
3 (11oz) cans mandarin oranges drained (used only 2)
2 (8oz)cans sliced water chestnuts (left out)
1/2 c. parsley, chopped
1 bunch green onions
1/4 c. sesame seeds
6oz honey roasted peanuts
2 c. cooked chicken cut into small pieces (used pre-cooked)

Blend oil, teriyaki sauce, white wine vinegar, sugar, salt, and peppper together. Mix with cooked pasta and marinate for 2 hours. combine rest of salad ingredients in large salad bowl, and pasta and marinade, and toss.

What do you like to have with your BBQ's?
Don't forget to feed your missionaries!

Salads are my favorite summer meal, thanks for the recipe.
And I hope I stay the size I am now so that I have 35 year old shirts when I'm a senior!
