Sometimes when I express an issue, concern, or problem vocally I begin to think of it differently. When I wrote my past post about our neighbors, I felt an added push to see if there wasn't anything I could do to "make friends". This way I could say I at least "tried" to my up most ability. After the girls got out of their camp, we headed to the grocery store and picked up some rainbow cake mix and white frosting. The girls helped me make them and when they were baked and cooled, I let the girls frost some of their own - as you can see from the mess above! We gathered the "good" cupcakes together (the ones that weren't licked by the girls) and went to give them to our neighbor. They weren't home, so we tried again today!
She was quite surprised by the gesture and sent her two girls over later that evening with some rice krispy treats. (I won't say how many I ate, it's embarrassing!) The girls were in heaven with the whole event, and I felt good that I had tried a little harder to get-to-know them better.

When was the last time you ate a cupcake?
What's your favorite kind?
Do you eat more sprinkles than cupcake?
or, frosting than cupcake?

That's wonderful Chell, you broke the ice, maybe now the girls will have fun at the neighbors house and make some new friends.
The pix of the girls in the sandbox is cute and i like the princess in her best dress slaving over the cupcakes and N eating the toppings thats cute they did a wonderfuly job. sassy
Cupcakes are one of my new favorite treats. This last week I tried out a recipe for a "Molten Lava cupcake". They were awesome, and easy. They cook in under 10 minutes. But unless I'm eating a straight shot of sugar like those I have to admit that the frosting is usually my favorite....sometimes I even save it to eat last!
I hadn't made cupcakes in years. I always do a big cake for birthdays, and if we just wanted treats I always made cookies because they are so quick. But last fall I made some for a FHE treat and they set me off. It had been so long that they were extra yummy. I think I've probably made 5 batches of cupcakes in 2007. Not quite once a month. So yummy.
Carter and Aimee will eat off the top of the cupcake and ask for another. They don't like the 'stumps.' But I'm a hardliner: No second cupcakes until you eat all your first! Such a tough mommy;-)
You can never go wrong with yummy cupckaes. I hope you will get to know you neighbors.
I think i will make some this weeekend.
good job! that is awesome and kinda funny she sent treat right back the same day.. cute! I hope the girls become good friends and have fun playing together!
I love any sugar treat.. cupcakes.. I ate last in June 29, Madison's bday..I love them all the same, frosting and the cake!
Crocheted flower with the ribbon and all. Love it. Way to go getting to know your neighbors. I haven't done that in a while. I myself enjoy the white cake mix with chocolate frosting. :)
How brave of you to approach your neighbour! And what a relief that she reciprocated the gesture.
I'm all for the 'at least I can say I tried' attitude.
Since I learned how RAPIDLY my girls can snaffle buns, I've learnt to make them FAST. I churn them out all the time. Have you tried butterfly buns? They're a bit fiddly, but pretty.
Can only find this link right now - and I don't know why they've made a huuuuge one!!

We made cupcakes about a week ago to leave for my VT families and right before I left to drop them off I realized that my oldest had licked off the frosting on both plates!! AARGHH!!
We love cupcakes around here.
AND way to go making another gesture and how nice that it turned out the way it did.:)
