Cool, calm, and collective.

A creative mom made this hat!

I must confess that I had a fun time putting this together. To think that for the past week, my minutes and hours have been spent collecting things for a party, just makes it even better. What a fun life:) However - this was a lot of work and maybe and I'm not sure how my sister does four of these year. It's exhausting and I might just leave to a fun center next year - let them do the work! Craig and I stayed cool, calm, and collective the whole time -who knew we had it in us!

Here is the pirate and princess gain! I can't believe how well this photo turned out and with my photo tweaking it turned out even better. Look at all those faces - ready for action and ready to tare apart my home! We started by letting them play, which meant running up the stairs and down the stairs chasing each other. We do not have a large house, so it was a bit loud. OK, it was loud! But I was ready for anything and no one got hurt. This is how the party went:

    1. Everyone arrived literally at the same time and stayed the entire two hours.
    2. Pirates and princesses chasing each other.

    3. Eat pizza.
    4. Run and chase each other again.
    5. Open presents and eat cupcakes.

    6. Bored, some kids start playing again and the rest stay to sing Happy Birthday to the girls.

    7. Everyone chases each other again.

    8. Gather kids together to play games "find the ticking clock" (play off of Captain hook and the crocodile)

    9. Play pin the coin on the treasure chest, like pin the tail on the donkey (give-up taking pictures!)
    10. Brought all the kids on the back porch to find a coin.
    11. Kids take coin inside to see what number they had on it and pick a prize with the same number.
    12. With shoes already on, they were ready to go home.
    13. Children gone, my children asleep, yeah it's over!

My only regret is not getting a good picture of Nini as a pirate before she stripped off most of the pirate identifying part of her costume.

Tonight is date night for Craig and I. Guess how many hours we have the babysitter for?----8 hours! Woohoo! Crazy huh? But we haven't had a date night in soooooo long and we're not sure when we can get our babysitter next. We're headed to the opening game of the Montreal Canadiennes! Yeah!

Love the video clip! That's true about the demolishment of lovely birthday outfits. Erin took her Alice dress off mid-Alice Teaparty and wore a pink fairy dress. I never got a photo of her in the Alice dress!

Glad you've got a long date after all that effort with the party. Enjoy!

What a great job! Horay! I love the costumes. Adorable. And your games were very creative. I think my favourite was the ticking clock. Never would have thought of that on my own.

Glad you got to have a date night. I hope the Canadiennes won!

Your photoshop on your pictures is stunning, makes the whole party look like another world
Too bad the Canadiens lost! It's hard on us Canadians to lose to somewhere like Carolina! How do they have a hockey team???

The party looks incredible! Hope you had a fun date night at the game. We got out last night and had a babysitter, and I kept wondering why we don't do that more often.
