Soon, there will be two people standing in the photo - the guard and an ex-patriot from Canada-and yes that ex-patriot is ME! Yes, my friends, I am going to London next week for 36 glorious hours! It's been so long since I've been away from my girls, I might find it a bit hard to travel for seven hours by myself, reading, sleeping, watching movies with only the roar of the airplane's engine. I'm not sure what I'm more excited about the "lonely" airplane ride with no kids or husband or the sight seeing in London?!!
I have to add, that I am not going sight seeing on my own. Craig will be in London on business and I will be meeting him there four days after he leaves. A friend offered to take the girls! I'm so excited! Do you think they'd let me kiss one of the palace guards - for a photo-op, of course!
Have you been to London?
Ever done a spontaneous get-away sans kids?

I am so jelous you get to go to London! How fun! What a nice freind to take the girls for you. I hope you have a great trip and enjoy your self.
I love your star boxes and the idea to go with them. Your sister is so smart.
Also the coins for the girls is brilliant. Where did you get the art to put on them? I think I need to start this also in my house. THe marbles are a lost cause.
Have fun!!
Amazing! You are going to have a wonderful time, you lucky woman!
I would love to go to London some day. So lucky!
Melinda - for the artwork, I just did a google search for "free clipart superhero" etc... The coins do an amazing job - and you can use them wherever you go - I even keep some in my purse - just to remind them!
I have only been to Canada as far as ever being outside the U.S.
I am afraid of flying, especially over the ocean.
Where I would love to go is Ireland.
D and I got to have a kid free anniversary this year. My Mom took the kids for that one night. It was too short, and only having one night to ourselves every five years seems like not often enough, but not many people are willing to watch five boys for us (my Mom included...I had to twist her arm.)
'Done' London, but I've never done anything sans kids for a decade.
Cheers
How exciting--a solo grown-up trip!! I've never been to London, but hope to make it there someday. Enjoy yourself!
I'm so jealous!
Jealous that you get to go to London, I've always wanted to go there.
I'm also jealous that you get to have an enjoyable time away from the kids. We all need that every once in a while.
I love London! Kiss the guards for me. However, it doesn't really matter where you go. The break from the kids will be nice. You'll miss them. They'll miss you. Then you'll be home.
Oh, how exciting!!! I am so jealous. I haven't been away from my kids ever. Safe travels!
Have fun and eat some crumpets! You deserve a getaway with your man :)
There is a possibility of me tagging along on a London business trip someday and I hope, hope, hope it happens. Lucky you!
Wow, I'm so pleased you are able to make this rapid trip to London. You deserve it. I'm sure the girls will be fine, and will be full of hugs for you when you return!
NO, NO, NO you CAAAAN'T kiss a guard. They'll go ballistic. You can't even touch them! I think Beefeaters are more informal and friendly, if you can find one. I mean the Beefeater guards, not the restaurant chain.
Hope you have a lovely trip!!!
how exciting....only 7 hours away...i ENVY YOU...I am sooo far away....oh I love the red on your blog and the red of the soldier's jacket....
