"No man can brush their hair with a purple brush!", said my husband while holding two of them in his hand. These words came after he had purchased two brushes at a Rite Aid in Lake Placid. Why would a grown man buy a purple brush when he won't brush his hair with one? Here's the scoop: Years ago, I don't recall how many, Craig found the perfect brush to style his hair. He used it everyday until his wife, that would be me, picked it up one day and said "Ewwww!" The brush was a bit disgusting from years of use and it was time to get another one. He exclaimed that he had been looking for another brush, but it had to be just like it - "because nothing else will do!"
While looking for some supplies for our cabin in Lake Placid, NY - the brushes that Craig had been looking for were found in the pharmacy. The problem? They were purple. So how does one change a girlie purple brush into a "Manly Brush?!"
Black Electrical tape.....
Talk about something to laugh about. He spent a good ten minutes on his two brushes! It was such a hilarious, very Craig, moment!
Now, onto chicken pot pies! I lo
ve the good old Betty Crocker cookbook I received for our wedding years ago. It's the best recipe book I'll ever own-except for my sister's ward recipe book - both are great. So here is what I made the other day!
While shopping at the store in the meat department, I came across a package labeled "pie dough" and believe it or not, I tried it and it turned out really good. I can't believe I would have found it in the meat section - but this IS Canada!
The girls are having a bit of a struggle adapting back to normal life, without our extended family. But, each day they make progress and will adapt back into their normal little selves soon. Craig has been working non-stop and has a trip planned to London a week from now. He offered to have me come with him, but sadly, I have no one I trust long term, that isn't working already, to take the girls. My hope is that next year Craig and I take an Italian cruise - ooh lala! I'm hoping, we'll see how next year pans out! Our weather is really cold and it's even sent snow flurries our way. How is your weather?
Have you ever made Chicken Pot Pies?
Would your husband leave the brush purple? Not buy it? Or cover up the girlie color?

The hairbrush cover-up story is hilarious!!
I LOVE chicken pot pies but have never made them, just the store bought kind. Talk about comfort food!
Oh, and I love the art showcasing idea for the girls!!!!
Love the hair brush story. I would have never thought of covering the handles with duct tape. I have alway's wanted to make chicken pot pies, but have not made the time for it. Just looking at the picture has made me rethink my time. The picture made them look really yummy.
Ha! Ha! The brush thing is so something Tim would do!!
I love chicken pot pies. Post your recipe YUMMY!!!
Oh I love when labels just say what they are. Pie dough. Full stop.
Ooooh, does Craig 'coiff' his hair? Laaaahvley! Paul spends a long time teasing his into a old 1940s style hairdo with a bit of a quiff thing at the front. He just uses a plain black comb. That he always loses and always seems to think I can find.
Hope the girls settle well for Craig being away. He should bring back some nice chocolate Advent calendars!!
The electrical tape is very manly. That is a great story that would have been lost without a blog!
Chicken pot pie is a terrific fall food. Yumm.
If you don't post the recipe to those pies, you're dead meat.
Or should I say, dead meat PIE.
I have NEVER made a chicken pot pie--I'd like to try.
Great use of electrical tape...cue Home Improvement "manly" noises.
Okay I am TOTALLY laughing about the brush thing. Before Doug and I got married he used a brush as well and even blew dried his hair on his mission.
I haven't tackled chicken pot pies before, but I may have to now!
Ha! I went to a spa party last night and was looking at a bunch of face creams (I have no skin care regiment at home so I looked at everything). One lady said that her husband used this one cream for the puffiness under his eyes. I couldn't stop laughing because there is no way Dirk would ever use anything with the word 'moisturizer' in the title. Very like Craig's purple brush.
love the manly brush. very creative
and the coins? genius!
I have a good, simple chicken pot pie recipe too. It has been sounding good lately... I should put it on the list for the week.
Jimmy also has a hairbrush that he has had since high school. Luckily he gave me fair warning not to use it or throw it away. (He says when long hairs get in it they throw off the balance and mess his hair up). Whatever, dear.
Cute post.
