Before we adopted the girls, Craig and I took up archery as a hobby we could do together. We purchased the recurve bows from a sporting store in Utah County and began going to an archery range off 9000S, right of the freeway on the west side. We would practice our shooting at least
once a week, but most of the time we were going times two. I can't tell you how fantastic it was to be together doing something this fun. I even scored a "Robin Hood Shot", which means after shooting one arrow, the 2nd arrow went in the same spot splitting the arrow down the center. Oh yeah! The photo to you left is an example of what a Robin Hood Shot looks like, apparently they aren't very common! Craig also got one about six months after mine, except his was with expensive arrows! Yikes! It was really exciting doing something so challenging together, especially since I've never been able to lasso Craig into exercising with me.

Once we adopted the girls, we really had no extra time to keep up our hobby. We may have got to the range once or twice, but it wasn't with any frequency..
In fact, it hasn't been until we purchased Acorn Cottage that we've been able to safely do archery together outside of a range. There were no ranges in Lancaster and none we could find in Montreal. We felt quite fortunate to be able to bring our bows down to the cabin and set up a few competitions between Craig and I.
We had two competitions after practising for several rounds, can you guess who the winner of both was? That would be yours truly! It all has to do with with Boggle, which I mentioned I had lost to Craig for years - make that 14 years! So when I can get a chance to "win" something I get a bit excited! We've dubbed it the Robin Hood Competition and the girls were elated that they had a real life Robin Hood and Maid Marian! It's a very fun sport, and something we would never find ourselves using for anything other than
What hobbies do you do as a couple?
Any interesting personal hobbies?

a real life robin hood and maid marion - i love this.
matty and i are looking for a hobby we can do together, especially one that involves being outdoors.
I love this. Jimmy and I have looked for things we could do together too. I may have to suggest this one. We bought golf clubs for everyone to begin a family sport but time and money hasn't been on our side so we have only been a couple of times. Jimmy also mentioned skeet shooting together this weekend. I am pretty much up for anything that keep us out and about and doing things together.
Very cute post.
I enjoyed meeting you and have been meaning to come by your blog ever since... I just 'remembered' again when I followed your comment at Jill's blog. I like feeling like I can picture you in real life, I'm glad it worked out for you to come to the blog breakfast. Your girls are darling (and so are you).
It is so cute that you two have a hobby to share. Tim and I are trying to find something. B4 Danica I used to mountain bike nearly every day. Tim joined a few times but couldn't keep up. I think that soured him. He doesn't really dig running either. I would really like to find a outdoorys hobby we can share. I envy you two for finding yours. :0)
You are one tough chick.
That is so fun that you and you hubby enjoy archery. I only have done it a few time. But is was a lot fun!
I love it how your family really enjoys being out doors.
You are so rad, Michelle! Archery? I grew up in the country and we had a hay stack we'd pin targets to and shoot arrows (and BB guns). My favorite thing in girl scouts was archery, but I haven't done it as hard core as you guys are! Sounds like a blast!
Whenever we go to my parents, the kids ask to do the bow and arrows with grandpa and have so much fun!
I think the pictures turned out fantastic! I'm impressed! Acorn cottage sounds like a little piece of Heaven on Earth!
I just got caught up with your photos from Utah! Your dress turned out great and the girls look darling in theirs. Ooooh, I am hitting Cafe Rio tonight with some girlfriends! Tasty, tasty!
That is one hobby I would have never guessed you did. Way cooL! My boys would love for us to do that. Unfortunately, no skills here.
We have tried to golf together, but I think if and when we have the time, tennis seems to be our activity. The only sport we are equal at :)
You are full of surprises, Michelle. I did not picture the same woman who crochets pumpkins and daisies also being an archer.
Dirk bow hunts, but I've never used a bow before. You are just too cool.
This is so cool Michelle! I love finding out more about you--you are full of surprises. :) I think it's wonderful you and Craig enjoy archery--Acorn Cottage seems like the perfect place for it too.
Scott and I need to try a sport together--he'd love for me to learn to play golf so we could do that together. I'd like for him to run with me--maybe when A. is older.
Nini DOES take good pictures, doesn't she? I love the last one. You look like a Greek goddess! Hahaha!
I love the competitiveness at Acorn Cottage, and it's so good that it suits itself so well to that hobby.
Paul and I don't really share many hobbies now. I suppose our main delight together is just walking around art galleries - but the days of sedate strolls around artworks seems very distant now. The girls just run riot through the open galleries *blush*
Your legs look super long and skinny in this post. That is a cool hobby.
