Our home and surroundings are now completely frozen, including are lovely Acorn Cottage! We unknowingly turned the heat too low and ended up freezing the pipes going into the cabin. Luck has it that the plumber that worked on the cabin lives under a 3/4 mile away - so he's looking into it now. Lesson learned - leave the heat on! I am adapting pretty well to being home, but it's to be expected, after all - I'm first a mom! I am still receiving some backlash from one of my girls, but she's working on lots of little issues, and I know this didn't help her.
I still haven't had a chance to get out our Christmas decorations and am hoping to get to it later this week. I have had fun looking at all your tree cutting and decorating fun. I have the quiet book enrichment activity this weekend, and have been cutting and cutting all week to prepare for it. It's a bit tedious and boring, but - I'm getting pretty good at cutting out hearts and mittens out of felt!
I made some more pot pies this week and took them to my friend who watched the girls. I wanted to something for her, just in case I can never fully repay her kindness. While in the kitchen, I had a realization that I am a frantic mess in the kitchen. It's not that I can't cook, but it's that I am a messy, disorganized, and did I say messy? - cook. I am used to cooking dinner or pretty much anything in a hurry. I'm not sure why I feel the "need for speed" while cooking - maybe it's preparing last minute! But this lovely mess was made because I tried to short cut my way into pouring peas into a small container from a large opening. I had to brush the peas off onto the floor and sweep them all up. I must work on this! Are you a messy cook?
The girls are required when it snows to wear their snow pants. It's so hilarious how long it takes us to get dressed for school during the winter -hats, scarves, mittens, layers of clothes, snow pants, boots, and of course, their jackets. I feel like the mum on A Christmas Story!
Are you a messy cook?
Have your pipes every froze?
Are you seeing white on the ground yet?

do you actually live in a cabin? are you serious that picture of that tree is incredibly beautiful...wow..wow...wow...yes, I am a very very very messy cook, however, those peas looks just splendid...at first glance I thought it was some decoration....I must be wanting some fish and chips with peas...or something rather...wow all that clothing for your girls to go to school...I guess I am spoiled...it was shorts of alexei yesterday...and flip flops for moi. Love love the selfportrait with the girls....and those lovely hats...how fun
We haven't had snow in the UK yet, but lots of frost. My begonias look like smthg the cat coughed up.
Noooo, those peas would send me running from the room! You're like my husband - he can creat a meal quickly but the detritus he leaves behind is horrendous. I'm slower, buy infinitely tidier. I'm sure fast but messy's better, though...
Did you knit and crochet the girls' woollies? They're so cheery! Erin's school has a colour rule - royal blue, navy or black woollies only. What a bore.
Hope the girls settle quickly. a sign of growing up, perhaps? Good luck with your IVF too. Is that happening now?
We got a good snow a couple of days ago, and of course the kids wanted to go out and play in it. I told them we would when Maxwell was napping so he wouldn't have to be out in the cold, so when he fell asleep we started. To get my two kids and myself ready it took us about fifteen minutes. Sheesh. We stayed out in the snow for about an hour though, so it was worth it. I love how the kids look like little marshmallows in their snowsuits. So funny.
Aimee fell down in the snow yesterday and was having trouble getting back up so we had a Christmas Story moment too. Such a funny show.
Fun snow! It is snowing at our house right now!!! FUN FUN!
1, yes i am a very messing cook. But i DO clean up afterwards.
2, Yes i did have frozen pipes before. It is a bummer.
3. Yes it has snow twice the year. Both time this week :)
LOve the pictures of you and you girls :) Stay warm.
I LOVE the mom referance from a Christmas story. WE just saw that on tv. So funny.
I really enjoy cooking but as a horrible mess maker also. I think mine has to do with everything i am trying to juggle while cooking. Usualy Ryan is clinging onto my jeans while cooking and that just makes for a mess. I think all that matters is that the food is good and at one point in time the mess will get cleaned up!
We have a ton of snow here too! I love it, mostly because I am stuck inside and don't have to drive in it.
I heard that the messiest cooks are the best!
I always fear of frozen pipes. Of course we never have more than a few hard freezes. Painful to have to have the plummer come out--I hope they fix it soon.
I LOVE your girls hats did you make them??
I am messy because I start too many cooking projects at once. It's an illness :)
That is really a beautiful picture--love it.
Yes messy cook. No snow and no frozen pipes (another reason I love CA). Those are some cool shots! You are so good at SPTs! I need a lesson from you.
yep, I am a messy cook.. love that you took a picture of the peas!
haven't had frozen pipes before.. ugh!
it snowed here last night.. barely covering the ground.. my kids want to go play in it!
love their hats!
Ah, the frozen pipes lesson. I'm sure by now your plumber has told you the minimum temperature he recommends to keep your pipes healthy. Pot pies sound perfect for your wintery weather.
We had frozen pipes many a time when I was growing up..... thankfully I have not had any since I've been married {14 years}. We have had a skiff of snow, but it has been bitter cold here ... not today though a balmy 40 as compared to yesterday's 13! Great pix of you and the girls!
