SPT - Comfort food, sadly out of reach.

My number one favorite item ever to it -ever, is: a cheeseburger. Sadly, Montreal, so far, has not yielded any desirable eatery for these delectable yummies! However, if I was in California right now, I could be having In and Out with Nicole or Mique. If I was in Oregon, I could be having a yummy lunch at burgerville with Kelly, and if I was in DC, I could be dining at Five Guys with Kristi! All of these burger joints I love, but sadly can't have. I once enjoyed them frequently, that is when we lived near them, but I just couldn't justify a trip just to eat at these places. I am even thinking of driving that 5 hour drive to Vegas to In and Out, while in Salt Lake, maybe not, but a girl can dream!

For now, I will have to go to my 2nd choices for my SPT food post. In no particular order, Diet Coke (which we all know is food), hot chocolate, cheese (goat cheese in olive oil-really good), and of course chocolate. My palette can be a bit strange, but when you don't have cheese burgers to eat, you've got to come up with alternatives!
Since I'm sending out some prizes from my last contest, why not add one more - who can answer this? What is my personal rule about eating fries? Anyone other than my sister Jennifer is free to take a guess!

Hmm...this is a tough one. Honestly I don't know. But I were eating fries I usually like to dip them in something. So I will go with you must dip them.
I completely agree with the In & Out preference. When I lived in Utah I had withdrawals. 6m prego w/ Danica I once ate 2 meatless cheeseburgers(no I didn't leave out the fries either)!! I should be embarrassed to share that.

O.K., since I can't enter the contest, I'll give a hint to everyone else!!!
It's something that drives her crazy when other people don't follow her eating rule. The other weird thing is that I don't think it applies to any other food!
I will take some of that chocolate though. Bring some to Utah to the wedding for me!

Calgary has an awesome burger joint called Peter's Drive In. It only has a pickup window. No indoor resturant. The best burgers, fries and shakes. oh my. Dirk and I have gone out of our way to have it when we are in the city.

Edmonton has a good burger place too: Red Robin's. They have all sorts of 'fancy' burgers.

Hmmmm...French fries must be eaten before the hamburger?

Justin, this may be quite a shock to you and Shauna, but I actually love, love poutine. The best place to eat it is at Cosco! Nummy. Who knew I would go to this extreme!

That in and out photo is making me SO hungry. I would say your rule is you dip each time you eat one?

I don't have a clue about the fries. Someone already thought of my answer. No double dipping but I will chose another one. How about what you dip your fries in? It has to be something specific?

I am so excited that you are coming to the brunch!!! It is going to be fun and the girls will have fun playing with all of the other kids.

Hmmm. What could it be? Mayo instead of ketchup? Pepper instead of salt? Bite of burger bite of fries? Okay, I can't wait to find out!

I just tried a dab of bleu cheese on a recent burger and it was delightful and tangy(strange, but good).

oh my you are making me very very hungry..soo sad to inform you that I LVOE IN AND OUT TOO, but I have one 5 min away...both ways south and north...so next time you come down we can go to an in and out with mique and someone else...i Can't develop a taste for goat cheese...I am truly trying maybe a tid bit I WILL DO, but my pallet sadly is not refined in that departmnet.

rule...I would guess...A BITE OF CHEESBURGER AND ONE FRY...OR SALT THEM? i love cheeseburgers too...really I never tire of them.

I will guess that fries are a veggie so you can as many as you like just eat them one at a time dipped in your fav, sauce!

hmmm, diet coke and goat cheese. not the first thing that comes to mind when i think of comfort food. but, you're right!! when you can't find a good cheeseburger, you've got to be able to substitute!

Jenn's hint has inspired me to say that you can't abide people NICKING your fries! Half-inching them! Pinching them! People do that, don't they? They seem to think your little pocket of fries is a 'general' little trough for anyone to dip into.

And, since you've very generous, I can well-believe as Jenn says, that you don't mind sharing cheese or chocolate, but people dipping their thieving mitts in your fries is a no-no. No?

If I win, please don't send goat's cheese to me from Canada to UK. It may become a biohazard! :-D

I cannot get over how dramatic your eyes look with dark hair! And that goat cheese must be doing something for your skin - flawless!

Oh yes, I wish you were here for a lunch date at Burgerville! I have the same fry rule. I don't know why, but they do seem to be meant to eat one at a time. Much more elegant (ha!) that way. :)
